Yenti Hsu
Yenti Hsu is a sculptor and spatial artist whose practice redefines the relationship between object, environment and perception. Working at the intersection of constructivism, minimalism and abstraction, Hsu explores what she terms ‘Surrealism Space’ where immersive interventions that transform existing environments through sculptural gestures.
Her approach, ‘Drawing in the Space’, treats sculpture not as a fixed from but as a dynamic dialogue between dot, line and surface - where spatial hierarchies dissolve and material becomes a trace of both presence and process. Using materials such as MDF, metal, card and wood, often shaped by both digital and hand-crafted methods, Hsu embraces ‘Imperfect Perfection’, allowing subtle marks, shadows and variations to speaks as part of the work’s language.
Light and shadow are not passive elements but active sculptural forces in her installations, shaping the viewer’s experience through shifting angles and perception. Her work exists in flux, creating spatial experiences that blur the line between architecture and illusion, solidarity and void.
Inviting quiet contemplation, Hsu’s sculptures offer more than form - they propose a new way of seeing. By inhabiting and altering space, her works ask viewers to pause, notice and engage with the subtle architecture of the everyday.
Hsu’s work has been exhibited at our gallery a number of times, both her own personal work and her work in collaboration with the artist collective Studio 14.
